NUAA's Speaker Network Information Session
NUAA would like to introduce the Speaker Network. It is a new initiative connecting organizations with community members who have lived experience in alcohol and other drug (AOD). This network provides authentic speakers for topics including Opioid Agonist Treatment, peer work, harm reduction, mental health, drug checking, and more. Participants will be supported with training to develop their presentation skills, building industry connections, and supporting the community by sharing their stories. Anyone interested in sharing their experiences can apply to join this meaningful opportunity to amplify consumer voices in the AOD sector.

Language Matters Webinar
NUAA, in collaboration with NADA, invites you to an engaging webinar exploring Version 2 of the Language Matters Guidelines. This essential resource provides practical guidance on using respectful, person-centred language when working in the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) sector.
Language is powerful—especially when discussing alcohol and other drugs and the people who use them. The right words can empower clients, reduce stigma, and foster meaningful engagement across the AOD landscape.
The session will be moderated by NUAA's Program and Policy Lead, Angie Kocsisek and speakers will include Dr. Robert Stirling, CEO of NADA, Kate Johnson, LLE peer leader and Dr. Hestor Wilson, Chief Addiction Medicine Specialist, Centre for Alcohol and Other Drugs, Ministry of Health

EXPAND Webinar - Listen, Learn, Lead: First Nations Voices in AOD
First Nations communities bring deep knowledge and cultural strength to the AOD and harm reduction sector. Yet too often, their voices are marginalised in mainstream AOD policy and service delivery.
This EXPAND session invites three key speakers working across different areas of AOD to share their experiences. They include Bec Riseley, our Aboriginal Peer Outreach Specialist at NUAA, Raechel Wallace, the Aboriginal Program Manager at NADA, and Leeton McGuiness, a Therapeutic Worker at The Glen. Rodd Hinton, our Aboriginal Peer Educator and Outreach Specialist will also be moderating the session.
We encourage participants to listen deeply and to learn from First Nations leaders, health professionals, and community advocates as they share lived experiences, cultural approaches to healing, and insights into what works and what doesn’t in AOD support systems.
Join us to listen deeply, learn from lived experiences, and lead meaningful change.
