Complaints and grievances
Grievances:
Before entering into a formal grievance procedure, you should attempt to resolve the matter through informal discussion. If, after discussion, you are not able to resolve your grievance or if the grievance is so serious that informal resolution is not possible or appropriate, then the process is outlined below.
Step 1. The aggrieved party should notify in writing:
For grievances against staff members, notify the Director of Operations
For grievances against the Director of Operations, notify the CEO
For grievances against the CEO, notify the Chair of the NUAA Board
For grievances against the Chair, notify the vice-Chair
Step 2. The notification should include:
The nature of the grievance
Who (or what policy) was involved
How the aggrieved party would like to see the complaint resolved.
Step 3. After receiving written notification of the grievance, the Director of Operations, the CEO, the Chair or the Vice Chair will write to the aggrieved party, noting the grievance, within reason.
Step 4. If necessary, the Director of Operations, the CEO, the Chair or the Vice Chair may contact you to collect additional information.
