New South Wales 2037
Over 4 in 5 young Australians support pill testing, and we’re finally gaining a voice in the debate. Let’s keep this ball rolling by being part of Australia’s first national, youth-led campaign for pill testing to get the message to those that need to hear it, and give ol’ Gladys a break from hoping and praying.
Following Melbourne’s epic launch, Sydney is ready to hold our very own. So meet us in BED (aka ‘Best Music Warehouse’) to join the movement. Glebe – Tuesday 19th of February @ 5PM sharp. Be inspired by iconic voices in drug policy reform, advocating for fair, evidence-based & compassionate drug policies.
Hear from the legendary:
DR. ALEX WODAK
President of the Australian Drug Law Reform Foundation & former President of the International Harm Reduction Association. Wodak helped establish the first Needle & Syringe Programme, the first Supervised Injecting Centre in Australia, the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre, the Australian Society of HIV Medicine and the NSW Users & AIDS Association.
Labor Party member for Summer Hill & former Mayor of Marrickville. As well as a drug law reform advocate, Jo is a fighter for social justice, and advocate for women, the elderly and disabled, LGBTI people and families.
DR. MARY HARROD
Mary is ‘NSW Users & AIDS Association’s’ (NUAA) CEO and is a Board Member of Harm Reduction Australia. NUAA is the home of the incredible, youth-centred, festival harm reduction initiative ‘DanceWize NSW’.
Sophie is a young Sydney artist who will share her survival story from a drug overdose 9 years ago. Her lived experience reflects many problems surrounding the current message around recreational drugs. Sophie believes there needs to be a large-scale change of perception.
Sofia is the NSW coordinator for Students for Sensible Drug Policy Australia (SSDP). She’s already gaining recognition as a passionate drug law reform advocate, with speaking appearances at the Demand Action: Pill Testing rally in Sydney, on Sunrise and in other media.
Following the speakers, there will be some sleek selektors taking you on a journey. Time to cut a rug! – TBA
REMEMBER! History is made by those who show up. Be part of a people-powered youth campaign, learn, dance and network. Let’s make pill testing a reality. Let’s save lives. Let’s #BeHeardNotHarmed
Donations welcomed at the door 🙂 See you there.
